STRANDED DYEWORKS

Stranded Dyeworks is a small batch, hand dyed yarn company based in Fife, Scotland that was established in 2015. The dyer behind the wonderful Stranded Dyeworks skeins is Jude Harper, a late blooming trans man in his early thirties (he uses he/they pronouns). Jude started Stranded Dyeworks after realising he would rather be experimenting with colour and texture than drawing, having studied for a degree in illustration. From its humble beginnings in Jude’s parents’ kitchen, to a converted garage studio, to a bedroom in Jude’s house, Stranded Dyeworks is now relocating to a dedicated studio space.

Stranded Dyeworks colourways range from subtle speckles, vibrant variegates and rich semi solids, and whatever Jude feels like dyeing in the moment. As an LGTBQ+ owned and run company, Stranded has fundraised for a range of UK based LGBTQ+ charities and causes, including MindOut, Pink Saltire and Stonewall.

When he’s not busy dyeing all his beautiful skeins, Jude can be found fixing up his falling down house, working with his hands, walking on the beach and chasing around a cat that doesn’t belong to him. You can find him on Instagram and on YouTube with the Stranded Podcast.
