Mominoki joins the YAL 2024 line up!

We're thrilled to announce that Mominoki will be joining us as our second YAL (Yarn A Long) dyer for the upcoming season! As we embark on this journey together, we couldn't be more excited to explore the intersection of architectural inspiration and the art of knitting.

But before we dive into the exciting details of what's to come, let's take a moment to reminisce about past YAL designs. When asked about their favourite YAL design from years passed, Mominoki fondly recalls the 'Shawl Party.' This particular design holds a special place in their hearts as it was the first time we collaborated with them as a YAL dyer, symbolising not just a creative endeavour but also a journey of growth and connection.

When it comes to stitches, Mominoki's passion shines through their admiration for the dip stitch, which was used in the Geogradient Shawl from MKAL 2023, it reminds them of beautiful mermaid scales. 

Looking ahead to this year's YAL, Mominoki expresses excitement about the possibility of exploring new realms of creativity. In particular, they hope to see more three-dimensional stitches, an element that adds depth and intrigue to knitted pieces. We can't wait to see what Stephen has in store!

On the theme of architecture, Mominoki reveals their fondness for the Hundertwasser House, a masterpiece of whimsical and playful design. Just like the vibrant colours and unconventional shapes found in Hundertwasser's buildings, Mominoki's hand-dyed yarns are sure to spark inspiration!
