Real dogs don’t make good gifts, but this cute little pup certainly does! Poklon is worked seamlessly from the tip of the tail to the end of the nose. Each back leg is worked separately from stitches that grow out of the body before the body continues. The front legs and ears are picked up from the completed body and head. A variety of simple shaping techniques are used to sculpt joints and create her lively expression, including pleats and short rows.
240 yds / 220m worsted weight yarn
Shown in Quince and Co Lark (100% wool, 134 yds / 123m, 50g) in Gingerbread
Small amount of black yarn for embroidering nose
Size 4 US / 3.5mm dpns or long circular(s) for preferred method of working small circumferences in the rnd.
16 1/2” / 42cm long (not including tail) and 8 1/2” / 22cm tall (to top of head)
Stitch markers, darning needle, stuffing (I added polyester beads to weight the feet, for safety these should be enclosed in a securely fastened wrapping made from something like an old stocking), 5/8” / 16mm safety eyes, scrap yarn
26 sts and 34 rnds = 4” / 10cm in st st in the rnd (this gauge is measured before stuffing and will be stretched a bit looser in the finished toy, different yarn weights could be used as long as the gauge is dense enough to prevent stuffing showing through).
