Stephen & Penelope is a wool boutique in the centre of Amsterdam. Since 2011, we’ve been suppling knitters, crocheters and makers all over the world with yarn and craft tools from our curated collection. In addition to our shop location on the Nieuwe Hoogstraat, we also have a thriving online business. We’re humbled to be considered industry leaders in the independent craft community, and we’re passionate about using our reach to promote products from diverse sources. We are a queer-owned, primarily women-run business, and we value diversity in our team members.
BIPOC, LGBTQ and other marginalized groups are encouraged to apply for all our vacancies.
We're looking for a friendly, self-motivated, enthusiastic person with a love for knitting or crochet and the desire to share it. Applicants must be able to knit or crochet and can advise customers on yarn and pattern choices. It's not necessary to be a "master" knitter, but a good strong understanding of gauge, yarn thicknesses, and yarn requirements is important. We'll teach you everything else you need to know!
The role in our retail shop in Amsterdam requires physical work, particularly in moving and hanging yarn and the occasional lifting of boxing and books. This position involves using a POS making sales, and assisting people with knitting project choices. You will come to know the products in the shop and what they are best used for and use that knowledge to help our customers successfully navigate our seemingly overwhelming collection of yarn and accessories.
BIPOC and LGBTQIA people encouraged to apply.
