YARNDALE & BERLIN KNITS
If you follow us on Instagram you know that we’ve been visiting yarn festivals this autumn. In late September, we visited Yarndale in Skipton, North Yorkshire, UK. The rustic festival is held in a livestock auction complex, and some of the guests included sheep! Colorful crocheted flags, banners and walls were such a delight to see! Lots of festivals shy away from too much crochet, but this festival was a nice balance of knitting, crochet, and spinning supplies, patterns and tools. Pair this festival with a trip to the countryside and it makes a great week-long getaway.
On the cusp of October, we took a city trip to Berlin Knits. Visiting Berlin is always such a joy, and this time we had the chance to say hello some of our favorite hand-dyers including La Bien Aimée, Walk Collection and Garn Stories. Alongside the colorful market, Berlin Knits was full of classes from some fabulous designers including Joji Locatelli, Veera Välimäki, Susanne Sommer, Melanie Berg, Isabell Kraemer, and more. The festival hosts a knitter’s river cruise on Saturday night, and it did not disappoint! Berlin Knits takes full advantage of its urban location, and we recommend it highly.
