Starting July 2026, we're supporting a charitable organization that reflects the values we hold close at Stephen & Penelope and Westknits.
This month’s feature is Mama Cash.
Mama Cash is the world’s first international women’s fund that has been funding feminist movements for over 40 years. Mama Cash is proudly trans-inclusive and works intersectionally to ensure that collective action led by women, girls, trans and intersex people is resourced, supported and connected across the globe. They invest in communities and grassroots movements that are creating lasting change and advocating for a more just, equitable, and inclusive world.
Since its founding in Amsterdam in 1983, Mama Cash has supported thousands of feminist groups in more than 170 countries. Their partners are leading vital work in their communities, from advocating for trans rights, to combating gender-based violence, advancing reproductive justice, defending land and environmental rights and supporting economic opportunities for women and marginalised communities.
Their grantmaking is organised across multiple action funds:
- The Solidarity Fund responds to urgent opportunities and challenges
- The Resilience Fund helps strengthen organisations for long-term sustainability;
- The Revolutionary Fund supports bold and transformative social change;
- The Radical Love Fund invests in care, joy, and community well-being
- The Spark Fund helps emerging movements and new organisations take root and grow.
Beyond grantmaking, they also accompany and support their grantee partners, helping them obtain and improve the skills, knowledge, tools, and equipment needed to fulfill their missions.

We believe thriving, diverse communities are built when people have the support and resources they need to flourish.
Throughout July, a portion of all product and pattern sales from Stephen & Penelope and Westknits will support Mama Cash. We’ll transparently share the final donation amount at the end of the month.
