Westknits patterns are all about making them your own, so this year's Yarn A Long theme, Knit Your Own Adventure, embraces colour customisations and design choices, resulting in three new shawls you are bound to love.

As well as embarking on the Full Adventure with all three patterns and signature kits, this years YAL is open for solo travellers to sign up to their favourite pattern Side Quest, with curated kits to make their journey extra special.

The COOL palette has now sold out! But we still have the luxurious WARM adventure offering juicy reds and pinks as seen in our first palette from Hedgehog Fibres with some purple colour pops coming up in the next two packages.

THE FULL ADVENTURE - DESCRIPTION

Get ready to embark on this great adventure - the Westknits Yarn A Long 2026!

The theme of this year's YAL is Knit Your Own Adventure, which is all about embracing colour customisations and design choices, resulting in three new shawls you are bound to love!

Over three months - May, June, and July - you’ll knit three stunning shawls.Each shawl design will have a Knit Your Own Adventure aspect to it, whether it's choosing the final size of your shawl or selecting your stitch pattern. It is all about making the shawls your own with Stephen's fearless guidance, detailed instructions and lots of colourful inspiration!

You’ll receive 3 beautifully curated packages featuring custom hand-dyed yarn and some extra special knitting treats exclusive to Stephen & Penelope.

The WARM theme for juicy pinks, corals, and purples. This will include a 5-skein fade from Hedgehog Fibres, some new semi-solid colourways from West Wool HEX, and some fabulous new splashy and semi-solid tones on the ultra luxurious Yak Singles base from Qing Fibre.

The COOL theme if you love blues and greens. All three palettes will feature cool-toned colours like oceanic blues and wilderness adventure greens. Expect delicious speckles from Hedgehog Fibres in a dreamy blue fade, contrasting green tones in brand new semi-solid hand dyed colourways from West Wool HEX, and an absolutely divine aqua/green inspired palette on Qing Fibre's luxurious Yak Singles base.

Both colour themes include the same yarn bases to knit all three shawls.

In the first box, you will receive an Acorn Stitch Marker Holder and a surprise needle gauge designed by the incredible Malia Mae Joseph.

THE ADVENTURE PALETTES

Like previous Yarn A Long subscriptions, you can sign up for all three shawl packages for the Full Adventure to receive beautiful new hand dyed colours created especially for all three designs in May, June, & July. Each package includes yarn to knit the shawl plus extra goodies!

The adventure begins by choosing your YAL colour palette: WARM or COOL. Both colour themes include the same yarn bases to knit the shawl.

COOL

Choose the COOL theme if you love blues and greens.

THE PATTERNS

Each shawl design will have a Knit Your Own Adventure aspect to it, whether it's choosing the final size of your shawl to make it small or large or selecting your stitch pattern.

One of the designs will be a spectacular adventure where you get to select between different stitch patterns throughout the design, making the shawl truly unique. If you want a more simple relaxing section, there will be lots of easy breezy stitches to choose from or if you want more technique, then choose the more intricate stitch pattern option.

This year's YAL is all about making the shawls your own with Stephen's fearless guidance with detailed instructions and lots of colourful inspiration.

ONLY WANT TO COME ON PART OF THE YAL JOURNEY?

We are also offering this year's shawl patterns a la carte. As the designs are released in May, June, & July, we will offer some additional colour options for those of you that want to knit just one or two of the shawls.

The individual pattern offer and "Side Quest Kits" will be revealed closer to the actual launch of each shawl pattern. The shawls will each be released in early May, June, & July.
