Meet our first YAL 2026 Dyer: Beate from Hedgehog Fibres!
Back with a SPLASH! For those not familiar yet with the colour magicians at Hedgehog Fibres, it's an absolute pleasure to showcase them to you today. They are the first of three amazing colour adventurists we'll feature this year. So without further ado, we'll pass the mic on to Beata - Beata, take it away!
"At Hedgehog Fibres, life feels a lot like an adventure. Every project, every colour, every little challenge is a chance for something unexpected and beautiful to happen.
Starting a new range of colours is a journey in itself. You pick a direction, follow your instincts, and see where it leads. Hand-dyeing yarn always brings the unexpected twists and turns along the way, and thats part of the joy it brings. Watching how each skein and yarn base behaves differently, some sections soaking up more dye than others, it’s unpredictable, and that’s exactly what makes it so fun. Those little variations are invitations to dive even deeper into colour exploration.
Hedgehog Fibres has always been known for its distinctive use of colour, which keeps us moving forward, constantly changing and evolving. Working with Stephen adds a new spark of creativity in the studio, and ideas just start to come together in ways you can’t always plan.
We’re really proud of this collaborative adventure with Stephen. Each skein feels like a stepping stone on a yarn journey we get to share with everyone."
