The Yarn A Long 2024 theme was Architexture, with a focus on textured stitches and bold, architecture-inspired shapes! Our YAL pals received three distinct hand-dyed palettes in the theme of each shawl.
Qing Fibre dyed the two-colour palette for the first pattern, the Rib Vault Shawl. One semi-solid skein and one variegated skein came together for bands of twisted stitches and smocked rib stitch, along with a flowing picot bind-off along the wavy border.
The second palette, for the Welted Incline Shawl, was dyed by Mominoki! Three semi-solid colours in cool shades let the unique shape of this shawl shine. Colour-pop welts and tiny bobbles made this pattern great for learning new techniques!
Finally, our very own Malia Mae designed the third pattern: the Stitchscape Shawl With three pinkish-red skeins in a gradient and one neon honeydew skein dyed by Life in the Long Grass, this shawl featured a ruffled border and deeply textured stripes.
