Lux Hi Twist - Witching Hour

Lux Hi Twist from The Urban Purl is a luxurious fingering weight yarn with a high twist construction that gives it real snap and stitch definition. Hand-dyed by Leila using a kettle dyeing technique, each skein has a depth and character that feels genuinely individual. The yarn itself is a beautifully balanced blend of ethically sourced Merino and Silk: the Merino brings its signature squidgy softness and elasticity, making it a genuine pleasure to knit with over long sessions, while the Silk adds strength, fluid drape, and a superb natural sheen that elevates the finished fabric. Together they create a base that is both practical and quietly beautiful - well suited to elegant shawls, wraps, and lightweight garments where drape and lustre really get to shine. It's also a base that does Leila's dyeing real justice; something about this silky, high twist blend seems to draw out the full depth and complexity of her colourways in a way that's hard not to fall for.

Hand dyed yarn is extra special because every skein is one of a kind. There are no batches and no perfectly matched skeins. This is where you can see the artistic point of view of each dye house we work with. Some dyers are quite exact in their repeatable colours while others are quite artistic and splashy, valuing the creation of each skein rather than the closeness of the colourway.

We take great care to photograph our products accurately, and still the unique skeins in your order may look different to the photograph, and they may even look different to each other. If you are using hand dyed yarns and are concerned with dramatic colour changes, when changing from one skein to the next, alternate rows to blend in the new skein.

• Items made from superwash wool and silk should be washed by hand in cold or lukewarm water with a gentle rinse-free detergent. Use very little agitation when washing so as not to felt or full the fabric. Never wring or twist handmade items when washing.
• Gently squeeze as much water as possible, roll in a towel and press moisture out. Then lay your finished piece flat to dry.

Wool silk blends do not need to be washed after every wear as it is a natural, breathable product. When you can see (or, rarely, smell) that your item is in need of washing, follow the care instructions
