Made of a blend of Virgin Wool and Nylon, this robust yarn is ideal for unique and fun socks thanks to its self-striping properties resulting in non-repeating colour blocks. Very versatile, this yarn can be used for accessories and shawls. We love the way this yarn is dyed, the crazy colour combinations make for irresistible crafting, as you'll want to see just one more row emerge. About Schoppel Wolle

Schoppel‑Wolle is a renowned German yarn maker with a rich heritage spanning more than 75 years, passionately blending traditional craftsmanship with innovative design to create high‑quality knitting and crochet yarns that delight creative makers worldwide. Known for its vibrant use of colour and artistic approaches to fibre and gradient effects, Schoppel‑Wolle celebrates inspiration and imagination in every skein, making colour a source of endless creative possibility.

At the heart of the brand is a commitment to sustainability and transparency: the company maintains clear supply chains, ethical sourcing, and environmentally conscious production from fibre to finished ball, with many products made in Germany to ensure exceptional quality and traceability.

Schoppel’s range includes iconic yarn lines like the beloved Zauberball family — celebrated for its enchanting long colour gradients — as well as eco‑friendly sock yarns reinforced with biodegradable components and GOTS‑certified natural fibres.

Designed for makers who value creative expression, quality materials, and ethical production, Schoppel‑Wolle continues to inspire projects that are as striking and individual as the yarns themselves

Why you'll love Commercially Dyed Yarn

Commercially dyed yarn is dyed in large vats, usually made into large hanks of 1 kilo or more. The yarn is dyed to an extremely precise, all over colour using gradually rising heat. You can generally expect commercially dyed yarn to be very even and dye baths to be exact.

Commercially dyed yarn is wonderful for projects where you want a consistent, all over colour, or even colourwork pieces like fair isle or stranded knitting.

Care Instructions

Items made from this superwash wool/nylon blend should be washed by hand in cold or lukewarm water with a gentle rinse-free detergent. Wash gently but never wring or twist when washing.
Gently squeeze as much water as possible, roll in a towel and press moisture out. Then lay your finished piece flat to dry, blocking to shape.

We recommend washing even superwash wool by hand, as it will extend the life of your precious hand made items!

Benefits of this Yarn

Superwash Wool Nylon blends combine the benefits of 100% natural and sustainable wool with the sturdiness of Nylon. This makes the yarn a good choice for snuggly socks, accessories and garments. With such a high percentage of wool, this yarn will be very soft and warm

Lovely color

Lovely color changes!

So very nice to knit with

I got this for the 2026 SSAL and I find it so very nice to knit with. The stitch definition is beautiful. The colour change is subtle and exciting to watch happen.

Prachtig

Very trusty sock yarn

Very trusty sock yarn, I've used it many times before. I love this colourway

Very interesting colour changes, I'm glad I chose this colour for my project.

I have used this yarn before in other colors. I’m not sure if the colors matter but the yarn I purchased here is extremely inconsistent. The guage is all over the place. I’m knitting across the row watching the yarn change drastically.
I think the shawl I’m making will hide the inconsistencies but I definitely do not appreciate how bad the changes are.

Thank you for your feedback, we're sorry that the yarn is not up to the standard we wish to provide. Our customer service team will be reaching out to see how we can best solve this for you!
