Malabrigo started in 2005 with two brothers-in-law, a pot in their kitchen, and a passion for yarn craft. Their dream-like watercolours and strong semi-solids are influenced by nature, art, and daily life in their native Uruguay.

They aim to inspire the world of crafters and to be inspired by them too. All their yarns are spun from the wool of free range merino sheep in Uruguay and Peru where mulesing is not practised. The name Malabrigo comes from two places. The first, a small windy village which was an infamously bad place to stop for the night because of the weather. The second, the imagined cold place where the locals must snuggle beside the fire wearing hand knit clothes to keep warm. With several bases in various weights, you too can knit your own garments and accessories to make sure you stay warm in the cold!
