Marled yarn is so beautiful when RiverKnits adds their touch! Hand-dyed in small batches at the RiverKnits studio in the UK, each skein is made from 100% British Bluefaced Leicester wool, spun in Yorkshire and chosen for its incredible softness and gentle natural sheen. The real magic is in how the colour interacts: each of the two plies is dyed independently in multiple colours before being twisted together, so the shades shift and blend as the knitting grows — completely unpredictable and utterly addictive. It works beautifully on its own, but paired with a semi-solid or tonal in stripes, mosaic, or stranded colourwork, things get really fun. At DK weight, projects grow that little bit faster too, making it a great choice for anyone eager to see those gorgeous colours come to life. Each 50g skein gives 115m of yarn — perfect for hats, mittens, shawls, and sweaters that knit up with a satisfying pace.

Hand dyed yarn is extra special because every skein is one of a kind. There are no batches and no perfectly matched skeins. This is where you can see the artistic point of view of each dye house we work with. Some dyers are quite exact in their repeatable colours while others are quite artistic and splashy, valuing the creation of each skein rather than the closeness of the colourway.

We take great care to photograph our products accurately, and still the unique skeins in your order may look different to the photograph, and they may even look different to each other. If you are using hand dyed yarns and are concerned with dramatic colour changes, when changing from one skein to the next, alternate rows to blend in the new skein.

• Items made from 100% Wool should be washed by hand in cold or lukewarm water with a gentle rinse-free detergent. Use very little agitation when washing so as not to felt or full the fabric. Never wring or twist handmade woollen items when washing.
• Gently squeeze as much water as possible, roll in a towel and press moisture out. Then lay your finished piece flat to dry.

Wool does not need to be washed after every wear as it is a natural, breathable product. When you can see (or, rarely, smell) that a woollen item is in need of washing, follow the above instructions
