About Bicycle

Bicycle from West Wool is a fingering weight yarn, lovingly developed by Stephen & Penelope. It is available exclusively at stephenandpenelope.com and in our Amsterdam store! Spun from the finest 100% mulesing-free South American merino wool, combining unparalleled softness with heirloom durability. Our painter's palette of colours brings you rainbows and clouds; earth tones, sea foams, magical unicorns, and all manner of deep moody shades.

About West Wool

We are West Wool, a yarn brand born from our love of beautiful natural fibres and vibrant colour. Based in the heart of Amsterdam, we create hand-dyed and carefully curated yarns designed to inspire makers everywhere and bring a little more Handknit Happiness into the world. Our journey began in 2019 when we realised a long-held dream of launching our own yarn line through our yarn boutique, Stephen & Penelope, blending our passion for colour, craft, and community.

For us, it’s not just about yarn — it’s about connection. We’re committed to sustainability, knowing exactly where our materials come from and how they are made, and to fostering an inclusive community where everyone feels welcome to explore their creativity. With a painterly palette across multiple bases and colours, we aim to support knitters and crocheters in making joyful, lasting pieces that speak to personal expression and shared craft.

Commercially Dyed Yarn

Commercially dyed yarn is dyed in large vats, usually made into large hanks of 1 kilo or more. The yarn is dyed to an extremely precise, all over colour using gradually rising heat. You can generally expect commercially dyed yarn to be very even and dye baths to be exact.

Commercially dyed yarn is wonderful for projects where you want a consistent, all over colour, or even colourwork pieces like fair isle or stranded knitting.

Care Instructions

Items made from 100% Wool should be washed by hand in cold or lukewarm water with a gentle rinse-free detergent. Use very little agitation when washing so as not to felt or full the fabric. Never wring or twist handmade woollen items when washing.
Gently squeeze as much water as possible, roll in a towel and press moisture out. Then lay your finished piece flat to dry.

Wool does not need to be washed after every wear as it is a natural, breathable product. When you can see (or, rarely, smell) that a woollen item is in need of washing, follow the above instructions

Hi I'm knitting the briornate sweater out of it and I love it as it's not that heavy and warm and a little fluffy as I'm a looser knitter.

Beautiful yarn

Color is gorgeous and love the name!!

Not as vibrant as on my screen, but I think the color will work for what I have planned.

The yarn color is true to the picture and super soft. I can’t wait to work with it!
Also, there was a shipping problem (UPS’s fault, not Stephen & Penelope) and they worked with me to help rectify the situation.
