Our designer of the month for September is Aimee Sher, who is bringing us all the beautiful autumnal inspiration we need to knit our way through late summer and early autumn days.
Aimee is a Taiwanese American designer living in St. Louis, Missouri in the US. They are a garment and accessories designer who has previously designed for Making Magazine, Pom Pom Quarterly, Woolfolk, and has taught for Vogue Knitting Live. An important part of Aimee’s design perspective is their focus on size-inclusive classic pieces with interesting and intricate twists that make their knits extra special. Their close attention to detail and gorgeous finishing really makes their patterns shine, whilst their easy-to-style pieces speak to a need for wearability and highlight the beauty of a slow making practice.
Many of the elements in Aimee’s wonderful designs are inspired by the different cultures that they grew up in. The wonderful Boba Time Socks and Effervescent Pullover, for example, are inspired by the beloved Taiwanese beverage “boba” (boba tea). We love the playfulness of Aimee’s designs and can’t wait to spotlight some of her stunning designs over the course of the month. If you happen to be in the neighbourhood of our lovely brick and mortar store, stop by for a closer look at the gorgeous Boba Time Socks, Go Gently Cardigan, Nicole Shawl, and Transition Slipover and get inspired to cast on in time for the chillier autumn months. If you're a bit further afield then you can check out Aimee on Instagram, Ravelry, and on their website.
