HKAL 2021 - CABLED TRELLIS & SPIRALING CABLES

The Cabled Trellis Shawl, one of the stars of the 2021 Westknits Hiberknitalong, is a striking design that combines bold colour play with rich texture. Using two skeins of a main colour and self-striping contrast colours, this semi-circular shawl features garter stitch and slip-stitch cables at the top, which flow into an expanding diamond motif. The architectural design is completed with a folded picot hem, offering a polished finish. Knit in DK or worsted weight yarn, it’s a perfect blend of vibrant colour and elegant structure for winter knitting.

2021’s Westknits Hiberknitalong also featured the Spiraling Cables Triangle, a DK-weight shawl that offers a fresh twist on the trellis design. This triangular shawl is knit sideways, starting at the small point and increasing toward the wide border. Slip stitches create crisp cables and stripes, and since you only work with one colour at a time, the process is both simple and satisfying. The spiralling cables flow seamlessly into a diamond trellis motif, with a picot hem adding a polished finish.
