DYER PROFILE: LIFE IN THE LONG GRASS

August 31, 2022 1 min read

Collaborating with Life in the Long Grass is always a pleasure, and for this year’s MKAL we have curated a selection of mesmerising kits that highlight all of the rich, nuanced tonal qualities of their buttery smooth skeins.

Life in the Long Grass was born when necessity hit in the middle of economic recession in Ireland, and Caroline found an old Irish farmhouse to resurrect and bring back to life. Caroline grew up in Ireland surrounded by farming and agriculture, and has vivid memories of her grandmother and great grandmother knitting, recognising the value of the much-loved craft. After spending fifteen years dividing her time between London and Eivassa in Spain, Caroline returned to her native Ireland to set up a dye studio on the side of her farmhouse. They set up a dye studio in the adjacent field so they could live by the values that are important to them: ethical yarns, local employment, slow living, care, and quality. This care and attention put into Life In Long Grass yarn shines through in every skein, and we can’t wait to see your wonderful MKAL knits created with their beautifully speckled and high quality fibres. Translating the colours of nature and life onto yarn is what Caroline endeavours to create, and with each batch we fall even more in love with their natural, rural tonal influences.
