We are kicking off Yarn A Long season with Dea from Punk Rock Unicorn!

Brought to us by Dea and her team, Punk Rock Unicorn (PRU) is an ode to every colour in the rainbow. Their small batch yarns are the truest embodiment of the most vibrant rainbow. Dea's creative mind brings to life a colour palette filled with soft pastels and flashy neons to give you all the tools to express yourself. Mesmerised by all the lovely colours she got to use while working as a tattoo artist, Dea turned to yarn to catch the striking tones of dye on the fibres to keep them shining forever. She loves vibrant shades, happy speckles of colour pops, and knowing that, when combined with your imagination, her yarn will become a masterpiece!

When asked what inspires her dyeing process, Dea replies 'everything!'. From beaming rays of sunshine reflecting on a piece of broken glass to flower petals left on the pavement after a rainstorm, Dea reminds us that beauty surrounds us at all times if we pay attention to the little things. We love Dea's bold and brave approach to colour. You can feel her heartfelt passion in each skein and it inspires us to be more adventurous and have fun with our own colour choices.

Dea's other great passion is animals - having lived on a small farm in Germany with rescued dogs and chickens, she takes animal welfare seriously and brings this ethos to PRU. All their fibres are sourced responsibly and are mulesing-free, so you can knit away knowing that your yarn has been produced ethically with love and respect for animals.

With this year's Yarn A Long theme being Flora, we asked all of our dyers their favourite flower! Dea loves the Ranunculus for its many shades and finesse as its head seems so sturdy yet has delicate and see-through petals. Dea wished the flower was around all year long but knows the seasonality of the bloom makes it that much more special.
