SSAL 2026 - Chameleonic Socks Pattern

Welcome to the 2026 Westknits Surprise Sock Along!

This year's SSAL design, called Chameleonic Socks, is all about self-striping yarn combined with a striking solid! Starting at the end of July, each week you will receive a new clue or set of instructions until the final socks are revealed in Clue 4.

Surprise your toes with a brand new pair of handknit socks for the fourth annual Westknits Surprise Sock Along. For this year's design, all you need is one ball of colour-changing yarn like Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Crazy with a contrasting solid yarn like West Wool HEX. The self-striping yarn colours will change and flow throughout the fabric like a chameleon crawling through the rainforest foliage.

Each of these SSAL 2026 kits includes a ball of Zauberball Crazy in Hello Grellow from Schoppel-Wolle, dyed exclusively for Stephen & Penelope and specially for the occasion, as well as one skein of West Wool Hand-dyed HEX.

Due to the nature of hand dyed yarn and yarn dyed in batches, there may be some variation in colour between skeins. We take great care in photographing our yarns accurately, but some colours may vary slightly from the picture.
