Pattern details

This DK-weight scarf features one main colour striped with three contrast colours, but you can use as many contrast colours as you like. The contrast colours meander to the left and right with slip stitches to create a parallelogram motif. The simple cascading rhythm produces a zig zag I-cord edge, which crisply frames the long scarf. You can easily customise the length of this scarf by knitting more parallelogram repeats or bind off early for a shorter length.

Painting Parallelograms was originally featured in Painting Shawls by Stephen West. Knit in cosy DK weight yarn, the scarf is built from contrasting stripes with slipped stitches that form parallelograms that cascade from side to side, all framed in a neat i-cord edge. The length of the scarf can easily be customised by adding or omitted repeats, but please note that this will change the amount of yarn you need. Choose your favourite four colour kit and cast on this cosy scarf that will be the centre piece of any cold weather outfit.
