We are West Wool, a yarn brand born from our love of beautiful natural fibres and vibrant colour. Based in the heart of Amsterdam, we create hand-dyed and carefully curated yarns designed to inspire makers everywhere and bring a little more Handknit Happiness into the world. Our journey began in 2019 when we realised a long-held dream of launching our own yarn line through our yarn boutique, Stephen & Penelope, blending our passion for colour, craft, and community.

Commercially Dyed Yarn

Commercially dyed yarn is dyed in large vats, usually made into large hanks of 1 kilo or more. The yarn is dyed to an extremely precise, all over colour using gradually rising heat. You can generally expect commercially dyed yarn to be very even and dye baths to be exact.

Commercially dyed yarn is wonderful for projects where you want a consistent, all over colour, or even colourwork pieces like fair isle or stranded knitting.

Care Instructions

Items made with Mohair content should be treated with an extra level of delicate care. This includes items where you have held a strand of mohair together with another fibre.
Wash by hand in cold or lukewarm water with a gentle rinse-free detergent. Use very little agitation, mostly soaking the fibres instead of washing so as not to felt or full the fabric. Never wring or twist finished objects when washing.
Gently squeeze as much water as possible, roll in a towel and press excess moisture out.
Lay your finished piece flat to dry.

Mohair can also be dry cleaned, but always consult with the dry cleaner on how to clean mohair without damaging it.

Oddly enough, considering I buy colors of this all year, I didn’t have this color of mohair, so I ordered it along with my MKAL 2026 supplies. It’s so pretty! Like all the Glowhair colors it’s so easy to work with even untangles more easily then you’d think.

This “Powder” pink is so delicate. It will do the blending I will require in my 2026 MKAL LITLG Cashmere “Jewel” Kit when I receive it in late October 2026.

Fluffy Yarn

Nice soft yarn, it blooms after washing and blocking. I like to use it in combo with a fingering yarn to get a marbled effect. The color is very simular to the pictures on the website.

Beautiful yarn

Beautiful yarn, the colour is sriking and is getting lots of compliments. I am currently using it to knit a rain or shine shawl and it creates a gorgeous fabric. The 'glow' in Glowhair is well deserved :)
