The geometric waffle rib texture is easy and relaxing to knit and is an ideal pattern for beginner knitters who want to experiment with different stitch combinations. The length of yoke, body, and sleeves are easily customisable so you will get a cardigan you'll love to wear. With all the colours of West Wool to choose from, there is a kit for everyone!

About the pattern

Choose one colour of DK weight wool to knit this textured cardigan. This design begins at the top with a ribbed collar. Increases from the raglan yoke shaping as you knit toward the body of the cardigan. The waffle rib texture is easy and relaxing to knit, making this garment ideal for beginner knitters. Instructions include video tutorial links to assist with the various techniques, like casting on, working the I-cord bind off, and making the buttonband. The length of the yoke, body, and sleeves is easy to customise as you try on the top-down garment while you knit. I featured West Wool Tandem for this project for a super soft merino wool fabric with plush drape. This non-superwash wool produces a lofty fabric with crisp stitch definition for the woolly waffle texture.

Finished Measurements

33 (36, 39.5, 46, 48.5) (54, 57.5, 61, 67)″ / 84 (91.5, 100, 117, 123) (137, 146, 155, 170)cm chest circumference. Measurements taken after blocking.

Shown in Size 4 with a fitted style.

For a relaxed style, I recommend selecting a size that is approximately 2 – 4″ / 5 – 10cm larger than your chest circumference for a fit with positive ease. For an even more
relaxed fit, select a size that is 5 – 8″ / 13 – 20cm larger than your chest circumference.

Yoke, sleeve, and body lengths are customisable.
