Dee Hardwicke lives and works in Wales. As an artist, designer, and knitter, Dee is endlessly inspired by the beauty of Britain's ever-changing landscapes, parks, and flower-filled gardens. Dee's rich and diverse design portfolio is steeped in the artisan traditions of the Arts & Crafts movement and each of her designs begins life in her sketchbooks. Dee's work encompasses everything from knitting books and exclusive collections for prestigious organisations such as Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and the National Trust, to collaborations with leading lifestyle brands.

Dee trained in fine arts and has become renowned for her knitting design and colour workshops, which have been held in spectacular venues worldwide including Kew and Liberty, London. Dee is passionate about creating designs that add joy and colour to everyday life, and she loves the way that knitting combines art, craft and practicality so seamlessly.

Dee is the author of several knitting books including A Story in Yarn: How to Design and Knit an Intarsia Heirloom Quilt (2016, Quail Publishing). Even several years after the book's publication, Dee continues to receive e-mails from people as far afield as Australia and the United States who have knitted their own versions of Dee's heirloom quilt.

Dee's latest book, The Knitted Fabric: Colourwork Projects for You and Your Home (2022, Laine Publishing) invites you to step inside Dee's wonderfully creative and colourful world. Brimming with artistic inspiration and filled with patterns for gorgeous knitwear and joyful pieces for the home, the book is a celebration of art, making, and the people and landscapes that inspire Dee.
