Emilie is the designer behind Atelier Emilie. She lives near Bordeaux in France with her husband and three boys. She learned to knit from her grandmother when she was a child, but it wasn't until the birth of her second son that she really started knitting in earnest. Since then, she has not stopped. The techniques she had learned as a child quickly returned and she has taught herself a lot with the help her youtube and blogs.

A few years after returning to the craft, Emilie wanted to try knitting designs that came from her imagination rather than from existing patterns, and she wanted to share them with others. She now creates garments she wants to find in her own wardrobe. The result is basic, timeless pieces, with clean finishes that are easy to wear on a daily basis.

She finds inspiration in ready-to-wear fashion, people passing by on the street, and movies. The spark for an idea can be a shape or a stitch. The concept germinates in Emilie's head until it becomes a drawing or a note in her notebook. She considers which yarn to work with, which colour, makes calculations and finally comes the moment to do what she enjoys most: to knit.
