2018 was the year Stephen fell in love with suri alpaca. Qing Fibre released their new Melted Baby Suri alpaca base as a custom yarn with Stephen & Penelope and the feeling of this yarn is simply divine. Cloudy puffs of alpaca decorate the wavy wiggles of this expansive v-shaped design. Latvian braids surprised knitters showing that traditional techniques can be reimagined in unusual ways to create a beautifully detailed shawl landscape. The angled shape and long wingspan of this shawl make it very easy to wear. A bubble border is added at the end of the shawl. This bubble stitch sparked an obsession for bubble knitting, which later led to the Bubble Cowl, Bubble Shawl, Bubble Sweater, Bubble Cardigan, and Bubbles & Brioche Shawl.
